How to Prepare for Interview?
Preparing for a Job interview is an important step in the job search process. Here are some tips on how to prepare for a job interview:
- Research the company: Learn as much as you’re possible about the vacancy announced company, including its products or services, history, culture, and vision & mission statement.
- Review properly the job description: Make sure you understand the responsibilities and requirements of the position you are applying for.
- Prepare answers to common interview questions: Practice answering common interview questions, such as “Tell me about yourself,” “Why do you want to work here,” and “What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses.”
- Prepare your own questions: Prepare a list of questions to ask the interviewer, such as “Can you tell me more about the company work culture?” or “What are the opportunities for advancement within the company?”
- Dress and outfit professionally: Make sure to dress & outfit professionally for the interview, as first impressions are most important.
- Plan your route and timing: Plan your route and allow extra time for traffic or other unexpected delays. Time management is most important.
- Bring copies of your resume and other reference documents: Bring copies of your resume and other reference documents to the interview, in case the interviewer does not have them.
- Be on time: Arrive at the interview on time, or even a little bit early.
- Be positive and confident: Show enthusiasm for the job and the company, and be confident in your qualifications and skills.
- Follow up: Send a thank-you note or email to the interviewer after the interview, reiterating your interest in the position and thanking them for their time.
- It’s also important to be aware of your non-verbal communication; such as maintaining good eye contact, sitting up straight and maintaining good posture, and using gestures to emphasize your points. Showing that you are interested and engaged in the conversation can make a big difference.
